Justice & Peace
The
group was formed by members of St Barnabas in 1985. Membership has since been
extended to any church in the Moor Allerton Churches Together group who wishes
to take part.
Aims:
-
To
learn more about economic, social and political problems which affect the
lives of poor people and cause suffering and injustice, and to bring a
Christian perspective to these issues.
-
To
raise consciousness of these issues within the local church communities.
-
To
follow campaigns on these issues initiated by the main agencies: for
Developing World campaigns principally Christian Aid but also other agencies
such as Oxfam; for local campaigns Faith in Leeds, Emmaus
Project.
-
To
raise funds where required for any project which will benefit the poor and
needy.

1985) including Oxfam, Christian Aid, Water Aid, Vision Aid, Faith in Leeds,
Bosnian Support Group, CMS, St Anne's Project (for homeless), Genesis (support
for former prostitutes), Path Group (social club for homeless men), Tools for
Self-Reliance, Amnesty International, St George’s Crypt, Simon Community,
